Today Someone Attacked R
So, what was the hightlight of the day? Was it rushing through morning rituals in a short 20 minutes and careening through Roxas Boulevard in order to get to the "supposedly" biggest mall in Asia on time? That's only the beginning. The biggest mall is, well... a huge expanse of area quite difficult to shop around in. We didn't have the time to go around... but maybe next time. Anyway, we went to see Superman Returns on the new iMax theatre. Oooh, what a thrill to see the handsome superhero in 3D!!!...if only we could grab him *sigh* and hold him tight *sigh*. And you'd think that it was the highlight eh? Not yet. Climactic drum roll..... as people piled out of the cinema after the movie, we suddenly heard angry voices behind us, and before we knew it someone (female) was scratching, screaming at, and hitting our friend R. The guards couldn't restrain her at first! The guys with her were also verbally abusing R. Confused at what was happening and the reason for such madness, we hang around (of course we were not going to leave our friend to be butchered by these lunatics noh!). These people, who were seated a row behind us in the theatre, were saying that our friend slapped their female companion. And for which reason?... according to them, because the kids with them were "excited" and thus must have "unintentionally" annoyed our friend. Is that a reason for him to put a hand on a lady's face? 'Course not... but 'course that was not the whole story! And was it really him deliberately slapping her? Seems that they've tweaked a bit and made a shortcut to the ending before a logical processing of the series of events have been looked at.
The story: rowdy kids very noisy during the movie, and to top it off, endlessly kicking at R's seat (that's not really our vesion of "excitement"). Hellooo...even I would be incensed. Imagine a constant banging behind you while you're trying to peacefully enjoy a film. He turned around and said "Hoy!" but that's all. Perhaps his tone was a stern one. No one can blame him for being annoyed right? And so the woman (supposedly the lola of the kids) starting hitting him from behind, just because he said "Hoy!" to the kids. Reaction?... to defend himself. And so there, after the movie there comes the action; if there were no mediators there he could have been badly hurt by these crazy people. The woman was dragging R by the collar refusing to let him go while she attacks him. Goodness. She was yelling that R shouldn't treat kids like that because... well they are kids and it's natural for them to get excited and be rowdy when watching Superman. Wow... and so people should just sit back and take the endless punching and kicking of the headboard of the seats while trying to enjoy a movie? And so because they're kids making a mess, they shouldn't be reprimanded? As Char puts it, they should be disciplining their kids instead of making excuses for them. If they can't, then they shouldn't be brought inside the theatre (or to any public places where they are most capable of disturbing unsuspecting people). Phullleeeze. We all paid the same price to watch the show, and if someone's gonna spoil it for one person, then heck he has every right to be angry. He wasn't the one who got physical first anyway. Ah, one more thing that these psychos were saying... that R shouldn't have fought back because the other party's a woman. Not defend yourself because it's the "weaker gender" on the aggressive mode? Duh. Wait, weren't it women who wants equality? *toinks* What a day! I hope there are no bruises R!!!

Jovs, what the lola is, so the kids are. The bottomline is wala kang laban sa mga bastos. Grrrr!

oh my gosh, buti na lang hindi na lumaban yung friend mo while being attacked, kung hindi, mas malaking gulo yun! that's what i don't understand about some parents or guardians, pinapabayaan nilang maging unruly yung mga bata. Yeah, kids are kids but it is still our responsibility as adults to keep them in line specially kapag nasa public places.
btw, bakasyon grande ka naman ha??? ;-)

here's my side:
from what i remembered, the lady who sat to my left turned and scolded the kicking guys at the back just a few minutes after the movie started... then after a couple more times of her scolding, i heard them transfer seats...
but the kicking didn't end there... several incidents i didn't mind... but after a while, it got annoying already... btw: i didnt know they were kids... i only half turned and asked them politely at first saying EXCUSE ME, then twice, exclaimed HUY!
during the credits, i felt someone poking something sharp at my back... but i just shrugged it off... i thought that was the end of it... but i guess i was wrong, she was hounding me... waiting for me at the end of the seats by the steps...
she was very confrontational... she kept yakking on how i ruined the kids' experience in watching the flick... hmmm... how about me? she insisted that they were excited... good if they were just kicking during the exciting scenes... i would totally understand... but but... they were kicking the seats probably half of the film even during the dragging scenes...
the B even started on how i was probably just the same when i was child. hmmm... if i was already scolded once especially in public by a stranger, i would have probably sat straight and didnt peep a sound until i was out of the theatre!
going back, i wasn't even minding her, i just kept moving along... then she started poking at my chest with her finger.
i am not the type who likes making a scene or engaging in violence... but when push comes to shove then i have to defend myself.
i asked her to stop... but when she slapped my face, i reacted smacking her flat too... that's when her sons (the apple doesn't fall far...) lunged at me... even threatened "na bubunutan daw ako" (draw his gun out of his crotch)...
the stupid thing about the SM security was they were restraining me when i was the calm one. i got sucker punched twice on my face because the guards held my wrist and i couldn't defend myself. the B even attempted to groin me, though she missed and hit my thigh instead.
they were saying how "babae iyan eh" (she was a lady)... i beg to differ... i dont think a lady would act that way... confronting a total stranger even to the point of taunting and poking at him.
heck, then i guess a woman can get away with everything... lady threaten to shoot you... don't fight back... BECAUSE SHE'S A WOMAN... doh! what kind of logic is that?!?!?!
anyhow, i am not sure of the relationship of the B with the kids... but i distinctly remember she was not a grandma, she's probably in her mid 40s... and kids (both girls!) were about 8 and 10!
to sum it up, that family is really demented... unruly kids... "macho" sons with guns(?)... scandalous mom... such pity...
oh well, call me an elitist... but i sure damn will stay away from MoA from now on... and stick to Greenbelt... at least i can be assured that people there are decent and have good breeding...

ano ba yan, it's like the lola justified the actions of her apo..kaya nagiging sutil ang mga bata e, ang maling ginagawa ng matanda, nagiging tama sa mata ng bata di ba..

It's really hard to argue and reason with f***ed up people. As much as you'd like to drill in your point into their simple heads, the attempt will be futile that it's better to walk away than get all the more frustrated. I say that R did the right thing, he had the sense to let it pass in the end. Those b***ches & madmen from hell can well... go back to hell. LOL.

omg! I can't believe that happened! This is one of those times when being courteous to women and elders shouldn't be applicable.

that got to my nerves! that old woman actually grabbed him by the collar and started hitting him? hell, i would hit her back not minding her age or gender!when somebody gets physical on me, i'd fight back. maybe kick her in the groin to shut her up. ok, maybe that's over reacting. well maybe not. heheh. but then again, tama si bugsybee, wala kang laban sa mga bastos, lalo na pag lola. lalabas pang ikaw ang kontrabida. parang pag may kotse ka tapos nakasagasa ka, kasalanan mo pa din sa mata ng masa kahit na tatanga tanga yung pedestrian. sana pinablotter nya yung matanda. para makulong naman yang lola na yan.

wow. all i can say is: they better had not done that to me or i would have sued them for harrassment! >< spoiled rotten families. hay!
gosh, naiinis tuloy ako for you guys. mga walang pinag-aralan siguro mga yun. maybe they were just treated for free sa cinema, and didn't know proper manners.
btw, oi jovy! di ka nagbalita na nandito ka a!!! :P
